The Daily Show had a story about this yesterday, but the Americans Coming Together website has a great article about a number of repulbicans who are trying to get Nader on the ballots in many states, even though he couldn't do it himself. The reason? They're hoping that votes for him will hurt Sen. John Kerry's chances of election. This sort of devious plan is exactly why many perceive the Republican party as underhanded and dishonest.
